Kushner: The Glorified Middle-Man

Kushner definitely isn't the sharpest crayon in the broom closet but neither is he "coordinating the [White House] coronavirus response", as CNN's Chris Calllizza said in his Jared Kushner: coronavirus guru article . I mean, let's be real, he's a glorified middle-man, for fucks sake. He streamlines the supply chain process between FEMA and the Coronavirus Response Team. In other words, he is the point-of-contact between FEMA and the CRT. This does not make him the head of the CRT, which Mr. Callizza somehow gleaned from Kushner's quarterbacking of the supply chain efforts. It appears that Leftist Dyslexia strikes again. At another point in his first news conference as a glorified middle-man, he was asked how he first got his foot in this proverbial door and he replied that Trump heard from some friends NY needed something, he heard about it and made a phone call and got it done. CNN saw this single, isolated incident as the baseline process of how the...

Are Origin-based Naming Conventions Racist?

Someone mentioned the fact that naming the 1918 flu pandemic the "Spanish Flu" has been racist for a hundred-and-some-odd years. But it's naming had nothing to do with Spanish people, and everything to do with Spanish media. It had nothing to do with a Spanish person bringing it to the US, but it did have something to do with people in the US thinking--and rightly so at the time--that it came from Spain.  According to History.com: Spain was one of only a few major European countries to remain neutral during World War I. Unlike in the Allied and Central Powers nations, where wartime censors suppressed news of the flu to avoid affecting morale, the Spanish media was free to report on it in gory detail. News of the sickness first made headlines in Madrid in late-May 1918, and coverage only increased after the Spanish King Alfonso XIII came down with a nasty case a week later. Since nations undergoing a media blackout could only read in depth accounts from Spanish news s...

Fairness Doctrine/Rupert Murdoch/Ronald Reagan Conspiracy Meme Response...

Image
Meme: After being in the United States for only one years, Ronald Reagan made this Australian a citizen. Fact: Robert Murdoch came to the US in 1974 and became a US citizen in 1985 and, unless my math is wrong, is a bit longer than 1 year. He owned media companies in other countries and only became a US citizen in order to comply with certain laws surrounding media ownership in the US. Meme: Then he had his FCC Chairman scrap the Fairness Doctrine... Fact: The Fairness Doctrine was abolished in 1987 by a unanimous (4-0) FCC Commission vote--not by 1 single person--in the Syracuse Peace Council decision. Said decision was upheld by a D.C. Appeals Court 2 years later. Subsequent attempst by Congress to force the doctrine into law was quashed by not one, but two separate presidents. Meme: ...which kept newspapers and television programs from lying to the American people. Fact: The Fairness Doctrine never applied to print media, only to terrestrial, over-the-air broa...

Glenn Beck Figured it Out...

In 2016, Glenn Beck came out in opposition of Trump and compared him to Adolf Hitler. He was also suspended for a conversation with Brad Thor over a hypothetical assassination of Trump should he win the presidency and abuse his power. Two short years later, in 2018, Beck said he planned to vote for Trump in 2020 because Trump's record is "pretty damn amazing". He went on to say that Trump losing in 2020 would be "the end of the country as we know it". Clearly I'm not the only person that's been paying attention. In 2016 I thought there was no way Trump would become president--until he did. Then early into his first 100 days, I swore he wouldn't make it past his first year or two--except he did. I just knew he would get himself impeached or do something utterly outrageous or egregious or prove he was too incompetent to run this country--except he didn't. 2018 is around the time I started to have a change of heart towards Trump. The man has...

Is Masturbation a Sin?

Someone posted this question on a FB group I'm in, so it got me thinking. Here are those thoughts:   Matthew 5:27-28, Jesus says that anyone who has lusted in his heart has committed adultery. While I can't say what someone thinks about when they masturbate, I can say that it's always with lustful thoughts towards another person. Genesis 38:9-10 is an example many people use when saying one shouldn't "waste their seed" but God didn't kill Onan for pulling out, per se, but because he didn't fulfill his familial duty to provide his dead brother an heir. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 is a reference to sexually immoral acts like anal sex, sex between 2 men or 2 women, sex with animals or any other unnatural act. It can easily be argued that masturbation is neither immoral nor unnatural. There is mention in Deuteronomy and Leviticus about a man emitting semen in his sleep (nocturnal emission/wet dream) and being unclean as a result but this is a natural process on...
